Evan started his career in 2014 at BDO Canada LLP’s Toronto office, in the accounting and assurance practice, where he audited both private and public companies in a variety of industries. As a Senior Manager in the accounting and assurance practice, Evan was a member of the firm’s technical accounting and assurance team, where he reviewed consultations on complex accounting and assurance issues. He gained experience in valuation for financial reporting, auditing the accounting and valuation of business combinations, impairment assessments of goodwill, intangibles and long-lived assets, complex financial instruments and share-based payments.
In 2022, Evan moved from public practice to the regulatory space, where he was a Director of Inspections at the Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB). In his role, Evan conducted inspections of accounting firms that audit the financial statements of Canadian reporting issuers. His duties included inspections of audit files of large and small market cap reporting issuers, reviews of systems of quality management, and the preparation of related reports. Evan reviewed valuation-related audit issues including business combinations, impairment, private investments and financial instruments.

Evan completed his International Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours and a specialization in accounting at York University’s Schulich School of Business. He obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) designation in 2017 and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. Evan is also a registered student of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CBV Institute) and is in the process of completing the required program of studies.
